2 or 3 bedrooms – which is right for you?
One of the first things to consider is how much space you really need.
A 2-bedroom caravan can be an excellent choice for couples or smaller families. For example, the Delta Resort offers two bedrooms, six-berth accommodation, an open-plan living area and decking. It is a practical option if you want a comfortable holiday base without paying for space you may not use.
A 3-bedroom caravan gives you more flexibility if you have children, regularly bring friends or want somewhere for visiting family to stay. The Willerby Peppy2 has three bedrooms and sleeps up to eight, with central heating, double glazing and a spacious open-plan living area.
There is no right or wrong answer. Think about who will use the caravan most often and whether you are likely to have guests.
What other features should you look for?
Once you have decided on the size, think about how you want to use the space.
Features such as central heating, double glazing, comfortable living areas and decking can make a big difference, particularly if you want to enjoy your holiday home during cooler months.
It is also worth looking at storage, kitchen facilities and bedroom sizes rather than simply judging a caravan by its number of bedrooms.
The best way to understand what works for you is to walk around the caravan yourself.
Don’t forget the ongoing costs
The purchase price is only one part of holiday home ownership.
You should also ask about site fees, utilities, insurance, maintenance and any other ongoing costs before committing to a purchase. These can vary between parks, so it is important to understand exactly what you will be paying.
At Sunnyvale, our current sales listings include site fees until April 2027 on the advertised holiday homes but always check the latest fees and ownership terms with the team when considering a particular caravan.
It is much better to have a clear picture of the overall cost from the beginning than to focus only on the initial purchase price.
How does the buying process work?
If you are buying for the first time, the process can seem daunting, but it does not need to be.
Start by looking through the holiday homes for sale and create a shortlist based on your budget, preferred layout and the features that matter most to you.
Then, come and visit us.
This is something we strongly recommend. Photos and floorplans are useful, but they cannot tell you how a holiday home feels when you walk through the door or whether you can picture yourself spending weekends here.
During your visit, you can look around the available caravans, explore the park, see the direct beach access and get a feel for the community. You can also ask the team about site fees, ownership, running costs and anything else you are unsure about.
There is no substitute for seeing the park for yourself.
Can I use my caravan throughout the year?
Sunnyvale is a 12 month holiday park, giving owners the opportunity to enjoy their holiday home throughout the year. However, it is important to remember that a static caravan is a holiday home and not a permanent residential property.
If using your caravan at different times of the year is important to you, ask the team about the current park arrangements and make sure they suit the way you want to holiday.
What happens if my needs change?
Your first caravan does not necessarily have to be your forever caravan.
Families grow, circumstances change and sometimes you simply decide that you would like more space or different features. That is another reason to think about your future needs when choosing your first holiday home and to ask the sales team what options may be available if you eventually want to move to another model.
